While Marga Incorporated was facilitating a foundation-wide meeting on African Americans in higher education at the Kellogg Foundation, it became abundantly clear that the crux of access to colleges and universities is the education pipeline. At Kellogg, they refer to “P to 20” – from pre-kindergarten to a graduate degree. Many disadvantaged young people face significant obstacles early on their path to education, significantly disrupting their future opportunities. As a result of these realities, Marga’s efforts to advise Kellogg on its approach to higher education have expanded in scope.
Marga will be gathering examples of successful efforts to strengthen the education pipeline across the U.S. and around the world. Lessons from these examples will help Kellogg determine its own course of action, and help others ponder this critical concern and approaches to address it. Findings from this work will be published and widely disseminated.
We at Marga are thrilled about this opportunity, as we know that the education pipeline can only be strengthened with partnerships. Partnerships are necessary if we are to solve any of the critical problems of today and tomorrow – the very premise behind Marga’s existence.
